Ancient Annapurna Temple in Varanasi distributes free gold-plated coin 'Prasad' on Dhanteras
Kashi's revered Maa Annapurna Temple witnessed historic scenes as thousands received blessed metallic coins symbolizing eternal abundance.
In a unique and deeply revered annual tradition, the Maa Annapurna Temple in Varanasi distributed special consecrated coins as 'Prasad' to devotees on the auspicious occasion of Dhanteras. Goddess Annapurna, revered as the queen of Kashi and the divine provider of food, is believed to feed every soul residing in the holy city. Temple trustees stated that over 50,000 households received the blessed tokens this year.
The temple sanctum was meticulously decorated with quintals of fresh marigold flowers and traditional silks, while Vedic hymns reverberated through Chowk and Doodhwali Gali from early morning. Long queues of devotees, holding traditional copper vessels filled with grains and household utensils, waited patiently for hours to catch a glimpse of the deity adorned in gold ornaments.
Local traders, merchants, and families consider receiving the Annapurna Prasad an auspicious omen for financial stability and household prosperity throughout the year. Tight security arrangements, barricades, and medical camps were deployed across the narrow lanes of Chowk to ensure the safety and comfort of visiting pilgrims.
