Babatpur Airport Gears Up for Winter Schedule with 15 New Flights to Major Metro Hubs
Lal Bahadur Shastri International Airport in Varanasi is expanding its operational capacity to handle increased winter tourist traffic, introducing direct connections to key domestic and international business centers.
In anticipation of the heavy winter tourist rush and business travel season, the Lal Bahadur Shastri International Airport at Babatpur has announced a revamped winter flight schedule featuring 15 new flight movements. The expansion includes direct connectivity additions to tech and financial capitals like Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Mumbai, and Kolkata, alongside enhanced frequency for the Varanasi-Sharjah international route.
Airport Director Aryama Sanyal highlighted that passenger handling capacity has been systematically upgraded with automated baggage systems and expanded lounge facilities to ensure seamless transit. 'Varanasi is no longer just a seasonal pilgrimage destination; it has emerged as a major corporate and cultural transit hub for eastern Uttar Pradesh and Bihar,' Sanyal remarked.
Local tour operators and travel agencies have welcomed the move, noting that improved air connectivity will heavily boost corporate MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) tourism in Kashi. Luxury hotels along the Ganges have already reported high advance booking rates from corporate delegates and high-net-worth spiritual tourists for the upcoming winter months.
